The Egyptian called the cat "Miw" inspired by the sound that cat makes, The Goddess Bastet was always depicted as a cat and was to be kept inside her temple at " Bubasis" currently the city of Tal Basta - near Zagazig. It is worth mentioning here that the ancient Egyptians worshiped the cat with great respect and honor. The statue pictured on his coin is one of the masterpieces of Egyptian art and it shows great skill in carving, It is a bronze statue 38 cm high showing the Goddess Bastet wearing a necklace with the protective sign of "wajet" and gold rings attached to the ears and her nose.
The statue is from a late period, around 600 BC and is now displayed at the Cairo Museum.
