The National Order of Merit (in French: Ordre du Mérite), a French Medal established in the year 3 December 1963 by General de Gaulle , rewards outstanding benefits, soldiers (contractors and reserve) or civilians, presented to the French nation. Replaced the old medal (ordres ministériels et coloniaux).
