Kuwait National Day is a public holiday to celebrate Kuwait's independence from the United Kingdom and is celebrated on February 25 each year.  Kuwait became independent on June 19, 1961, under the reign of Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah . The first Independence Day celebration was held on June 19, 1962 , the only time an independence ceremony was held on this date Period  and was combined with the date of the inauguration of Prince Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah,which falls on February 25 each year beginning in 1963  then, Kuwait has been celebrating its Independence Day on this date
