The Old Library of Alexandria, known as the Royal Library of Alexandria or the Great Library, is the largest library of its time. It was founded by Alexander the Great twenty-three centuries ago. It is also said to have been founded by Ptolemy II Early in the 3rd century BC year (285-247) BC The Library was exposed to numerous fires and ended its life in 48 BC In 2002 it was rebuilt under the name of the New Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
