King Farouk married Queen Farida in 1938 AD and on the occasion of the royal wedding the Egyptian government recommended minting gold coins to the value twenty thousand Egyptian pounds allocated follows :
1000 coins of five pounds each to the value of 5000 pounds each weighing 42.5 grams
5000 coins of one pounds each to the value of 5000 pounds each weighing 8.5 grams
10000 coins of fifty piatres each to the value of 5000 pounds each weighing 4.25 grams
25000 coins of twenty piastres each to the value of 5000 pounds each weighing 1.7 grams
All the pieces were minted in Royal Mint – London UK in 1939 AD although they bare the inscription of the wedding year 1938 AD
