In 1961 the Central Bank decided to found a Banknote press in Egypt the press started its activities in 1967 printing the Egyptian Banknotes as well as School Certificates and Passports it also offered printing the paper money of other countries .

.The first Banknotes printed in Egypt were the 25 piastres 4th issue , the 50 piastres 6th issue , the 1 pound 8th issue , the 5 pound 9th issue and the 10 pounds 6th issue 

.The first Egyptian designs for an Egyptian Banknotes were  the 6th edition of the 50 pounds bill and the 6th edition of the 100 pounds bill after that all Egyptian Banknotes were and still are designed by Egyptians
