Cardiovascular disease  class of diseases involving the heart or blood vessels (arteries and veins). While the term technically refers to any disease affecting the cardiovascular system (as used in the headings of medical subjects MeSH), it is commonly used to refer to arterial diseases, such as ( atherosclerosis ). These conditions have the same causes, mechanisms, and treatments. In practice, cardiovascular diseases are treated by the heart, chest surgeons, vascular surgeons, neurologists, radiologists' interventions, depending on the organ system. There is an overlap of specialties, and it is common that some procedures have to be different types of specialists in the same hospital .Most Western countries face high and increasing rates of cardiovascular disease. Every year, heart disease kills many Americans more than cancer .  Cardiovascular disease alone causes 30% of all deaths, and cardiovascular disease causes disability in addition to death. Two out of three deaths from heart disease occur without any diagnosis of cardiovascular disease. [4] Until 2005 , these diseases were the No. 1 cause of death and disability in the United States and most European countries . One large histological study (PDAY) showed that vascular injury accumulates from adolescence , making it necessary to make primary prevention efforts from childhood
